Hey ladies,

I would like to add a chemical exfoliant to my skincare routine.

Am I better off with an AHA or a BHA?

Can I use both, say once or twice a week each?

I'm eyeing up Paula's choice or Isntree.

About to turn 41, dull and dry skin

want to get rid of uneven skintone, have sebecaous filaments mainly on nose and chin, and fine wrinkles

Also, can I use my Granactive Rentinoid 2% afterwards, followed by moisturiser?

Thanks!

How serious are you about going about this? Because it mostly sounds like you want a mild and easy routine.

Typically AHA/BHA peels aren't needed at all for uneven skintone as they carry a potential risk for post use inflammation and hyperpigmentation.

The gold standard for uneven skintone treatment are TCA peels with tretinoin priming beforehand 3-4 weeks. Please don't try this unsupervised.

If you want to do something at home your best bet is to use milder acids such as azelaic acid and a retinol. But for a serious effort you'd need to do a real retnoid in escalating dosage like Tretinoin/Adapalene/Trifarotene.

Good luck.
